Photoshoot Presentation Guide
Tips and tricks for presenting your home at its best
A general rule of thumb is to ‘clear all surfaces’. The garage is a great place to hide items as it will generally not be photographed unless there is a feature such as storage
Properties are to be presented photoshoot ready. Moving items around during the shoot adds additional time and may result in an incomplete shoot or incur a fee
- Tidy, vacuum and mop
- Vertical blinds fully opened
- Turn all lights and lamps on. Prior to shoot day check that all light globes are working and are of the same colour temperature and wattage, especially downlights and twin lamp lights. The camera is very sensitive to variations and consistency makes a difference
- For twilight photoshoots, override exterior sensors or adjust to allow the maximum time possible
- Clean windows and mirrors
- Where possible hide away cords and power boards
- All loose clothing, shoes and shoe racks hidden
- Hide away loose items – keys, clothes, knick knacks, bins, brooms, mops, vacuum cleaners, remote controls, interior door mats, tissue boxes, all sink and basin plugs
- Remove calendars
- Windows closed and ceiling fans off
- When shoots take place close to Christmas, clear away all small décor items leaving only the Christmas tree in place. If possible, a tree free room is preferable!
Kitchen

Exteriors
Exteriors
- Mow lawns, remove weeds, sweep paved areas and pathways
- Remove vehicles from the property. Parked on the road in front of adjacent properties where possible is ideal. This also allows a vehicle free window view for interior photographs
- Rubbish bins and garden hoses hidden away out of view
- Ensure the clothes line is free of washing
- Remove gardening tools, pet bedding and bowls, toys and any loose items
- Open up umbrellas
- Hosing the ground – Don’t do it! It adds no improvement and results in a patchwork of wet and dry areas
Pools
- Clean out leaves and debris
- Remove Kreepy Krawly’s earlier in the day allowing enough time for any water trails to dry
- Hide pool covers and leaf scoops out of sight – around the side of the house is ideal
- Turn on water features
